We hand crafted these spectacular skull cufflinks from high quality black onyx.  We carved them by hand in a heraldic Aztec style.

Mesoamerican civilizations preserved the skulls of their victims from battles and sacrifices. They also constructed special racks called Tzompantli to display their collections. It is no surprise that Skull designs feature a great deal therefore in Aztec art and jewelry. Skull symbolism in Aztec times centered around death and mortality. In modern times the association is more between death and evil.

The oval stone is measure 22 x 18 mm. (7/8 x 11/16 inch) mounted to a solid sterling silver with an easy fit swivel fitment.
